After a brief introduction and loading the trailer, we\u2019ll drive together toward <strong>the Russian border<\/strong>, where we <strong>\u2019ll set out <\/strong>on <strong>the Valamajoki <\/strong>River. <\/p><p data-start=\"513\" data-end=\"915\">As soon as the kayaks are in the water, the <span data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"589\"><strong>adventure<\/strong> through the wilderness<\/span> begins: a paddling route of about 18 km lies ahead of us\u2014no roads, no civilization, just nature. The <strong>Valamajoki<\/strong> winds its way through tight bends, past <strong>beaver dams<\/strong>, over <strong>sandbars<\/strong>, through <strong>marshy shorelines<\/strong>, and rocky sections. <span data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"835\">Nineteen smaller <strong>rapids<\/strong><\/span> provide excitement along the way\u2014sometimes gently splashing, sometimes surprisingly lively. Along the way, we\u2019ll have lunch on the riverbank.  <\/p><p data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"1217\">In the afternoon, we reach our destination for the day: the <strong>Valama Hut<\/strong> \u2014a simple, traditional wilderness hut with <strong>a fire pit<\/strong> and sleeping areas inside. Alternatively, you can spend the night in your own tent. The route winds through peaceful wooded landscapes with occasional gentle currents and one major rapid: the <strong data-start=\"1775\" data-end=\"1792\">Kaksinkantaja<\/strong> (difficulty level II, approx. 80\u202fm long; can be portaged if necessary). <\/p><p data-start=\"1875\" data-end=\"2112\">At noon, we\u2019ll stop at a <strong data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1933\">laavu with a fire pit<\/strong> \u2014time for a break, a small campfire, and a hearty snack.
