In the heart of the untouched wilderness of North Karelia, surrounded by forests, lakes, and silence, we have made our dream come true: a place where humans, animals, and nature live in harmony. Our lodge is more than just a travel destination – it is a home to over 80 dogs, 2 cats, to us, and perhaps soon to you.
Our Story
I’m Bianca – an animal caretaker, sled dog guide, and visionary with a heart for animals.
After years of working on husky farms in Norway and Finland, including more than two years here in Nurmijärvi, I realised: this is the life I want to live.
I want to create a place where the dogs’ wellbeing always comes first. A place where tourism is built on respect, mindfulness, and genuine care – without compromise.
When we heard that the property in Nurmijärvi was going to be sold, it deeply moved us.
Together with my husband Antti – a baker, nature lover, our calm anchor, and technical supporter – we decided to buy the farm. We founded Eräkeskus – Sled Dog Center Oy. We chose this name consciously, as we wanted to keep part of the old company’s legacy alive.
Since August 2024, we have been planning, organising, building, and renovating tirelessly to ensure species-appropriate dog care, attention to detail, and exciting, meaningful experiences.
Our Philosophy
Our dogs are not “working tools” – they are family members.
They live in small groups in spacious, well-equipped kennels with plenty of room to play, run, and relax. Every day, they enjoy playgroups, cuddles, and varied activities, and some of them also join us on our summer tours.
As soon as the weather gets warmer, many of them love taking a swim in our lake – and some even sleep with us in the house.
We breed exclusively for our own needs. Our puppies are not sold and are not used as a tourist attraction.
We take our time – for our dogs and for our guests. Small groups, personal attention, and genuine closeness to the pack are simply part of who we are. With us, there is no mass tourism – only heartfelt, individual experiences.

From playful youngsters to experienced lead dogs and relaxed retirees – each of our dogs has a unique character. Together with them, we shape our programs – always with consideration for their needs, their age, and their joy for adventure.
