Your adventure begins

After a roughly 30-minute drive to the starting point, we’re immediately immersed in the Reposuo Nature Reserve. Right at the start, we come to the bird-watching tower, from which we enjoy a breathtaking view of the vast expanse of the marsh and the glistening Lake Pankajärvi. From here, our nearly flat, 12-kilometer loop trail begins, taking us into the unique natural landscape of this region.

Through the moor, through the forest, and along the lakeshore

The trail takes us on a varied journey through open marshlands over sturdy wooden planks, through sparse forests, and time and again right along the beautiful shore of Lake Pankajärvi. We pass the small, charming boat harbor at Pankajärvi and explore protected forest areas. Along the way, there are many idyllic campfire sites and rest areas—we’ll stop wherever we like best and enjoy a delicious lunch cooked over an open fire in the midst of this peaceful natural setting.

  • Duration: About 4–6 hours (including transportation and lunch).
  • Distance: approx. 12 km.
  • Difficulty: An easy, mostly flat loop hike through varied terrain.
  • Highlights: Bird-watching tower, boardwalks through the marshland, the shores of Lake Pankajärvi, a small boat harbor, and protected forests.
  • Meeting point: Eräkeskus, at the lodge.
  • Guide: German, English, Finnish speaking guides.

What to Bring: For the best hiking experience, we recommend bringing the following:

  • Good, broken-in hiking boots: Absolutely essential for secure footing and comfort on the natural trails.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (layering): Layers are ideal for adapting to changing temperatures.
  • Small daypack: For personal items and a water bottle.
  • Optional: camera, binoculars, insect repellent (depending on the season).

Physical Requirements: This hike is suitable for anyone with a normal level of basic fitness who enjoys spending time outdoors. The trails are mostly flat, with some sections on boardwalks. No special prior experience is required.

  • Cancellations must be made in writing (by e-mail to office@eraekeskus.com). In the case of declarations received on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the next working day shall be decisive.
  • Cancellation up to 7 days before the start of the tour is free of charge.
  • If you cancel 7 days or less before the date of the event, we will charge a cancellation fee of 100% of the booking price.
